Communications

  • We will communicate with you by email whenever possible.
  • Please send an email to rwonfor0477@rogers.com from all of the addresses that you would like included in our mail list.
  • Please advise Coach Rob by email at least 48 hours in advance of games or practices that your child will be absent from. This will allow us to call-up other players for games, or adjust practice plans if several players will be away.
  • PCHA information is available at www.portcredithockey.com
  • MHL information including schedules is available at www.hockey.on.ca
  • A team list, including parent’s names, contact information will be distributed.
  • Games

    • All our scheduled league games will be listed on the MHL website under “Games Centre”.
    • MHL admission charge is $4 per day for all players, and spectators between age 16 and 65.
    • Games can start as early as 10 minutes before published game time.
    • Please have your child dressed and ready to play at least 20 to 30 minutes before published game time.
    • Only PCHA registered players in full equipment and MHL carded Coaches are allowed on or near our bench area.
    • For each game, one player will be designated as “Captain”. The Captain of the team has the responsibility of “wearing the C” and warming up the goaltender. The Captain’s job will rotate through the team.
    • After each game, please be patient while Coaches meet with players for a few minutes in the dressing room.
  • Practices

    • Practices will be the vehicle by which your child will develop the most as a hockey player.
    • Our practices will be focused and fun as we work to maximize our ice time.
    • Please have your child dressed and ready to practice at least 10 minutes before each practice.
    • We will try to discuss practice plans with players in the dressing room before ice time.
    • In the event of conflicts, practices are sometimes changed. You will be notified of these changes.
    • If additional practice time is available and required, we will discuss this option with you.
    • Only PCHA registered players in full equipment and MHL carded Coaches and volunteers are allowed on or near the bench area, or on the practice ice.
  • General

    • Remember, this is recreational, house league hockey.
    • We are a team: We win as a team, and we lose as a team.
    • Advise the Coaching Team of any special needs your child has.
    • Please be certain that we have your emergency phone numbers, such as your cell phone.
    • As dressing room space is very limited, please keep the number of family members and others tending to your child before and after games and practices to a minimum.
    • After your child is dressed, please leave the dressing room to make space for others.
    • Coaches are responsible for your child in the dressing room after you leave, on the bench, and on the ice. However, PCHA does not have the resources or personnel to care for and transport your child in the event of injury or emergency. Parents must not leave their child unattended at games or practices under any condition. If you leave the rink, arrange for someone other than a Coach to be responsible for your child, or take him/her with you.
    • Early in the season, the Coaching Team will determine player positions. These determinations will be reviewed periodically, and adjusted as required.
    • As the season moves along, feel free to discuss your child’s progress with us.
    • The Coaching Team is open to your positive feedback and ideas.
    • If you have a concern, please bring it to the attention of a Coach. Please don’t let small concerns develop into big problems.
    • As per Hockey Canada recommendation, a 24-hour period of reflection should be observed before a serious or contentious issue is discussed.
    • Players are required to wear full equipment at all games and practices when on the bench or on the ice. Players cannot play or go on the ice without a CSA helmet and BNQ neck guard.
    • Under MHL rules, Coaches are responsible for the behavior of their players and their team’s supporters in and around the arena.
    • Inappropriate behavior and language is unacceptable.
  • MHL conducts convening till early November. During this time, players could change teams, and teams could change division.
